Sanity’s edge

At times of loss, then it does seem
As though all flat is my being
Eyes open, yet nothing seeing;
Alone, I wander through a dream.

Crazed horizons: a mottled theme
Beckons me to sanity's edge.
A splintered mind; a driven wedge
Into reality's true heart
And at the last a distant part
Found clinging to a windswept ledge.

Prompt: Ronovan Writes: Decima Poetry Challenge #7: Dream

I’ve never tried a ‘decima‘ poem before. I’m not tremendously pleased with my effort: what do you think of it?

  1. Congratulations.. I truly had never heard of Decima Poetry before.. And looked it up… So I thought you did an excellent job…. I write my poetry with just the end of each sentences rhyming as you no doubt have read. … I am afraid I am no good at Haiku either…
    Sending thoughts and well wishes Colin :-D

    It flows and reads well to me, Pendantry. I agree with Sue… well done!

    Jury is out on the form itself, but you did a good job of getting the message across. Desolate times in many ways.

    Excellent. I think a message many people can connect with based on their interpretation. I went through a grade three concussion, lost all my 43 years of memories, including those of my family, have Fibromyalgia, fractured vertebrae from the neck to the bottom. And I’m sure there is something I forget. I’ve had moments where I’ve felt myself dangling from an edge sometimes in a good way but for quite a long time in a very dark and bad one. Blogging, those friends I made, and a beautiful tiny stray cat that became my friend, helped me move in the right direction.

    Glad you joined in on the challenge and tried the style of poetry. You really did nail it. The reading of it … I could do it aloud and it would be quite dramatic, which is part of what a décima is all about. I hope you continue to join in.

  8. I hadn’t really given it much thought before. Vaguely heard of the format but unaware what it was, until now. I liked it!
