Poetry word cloud

What better way to remember a nifty website address and thank the provider of same — than a reblog?

Addendum 17Dec2021

The original post I reblogged here was on Karen Horsley’s site ‘Blue Sky Days 365‘. But that post has gone walkies, and technology being technology (as in ‘constantly *cough* improving *cough*’) the reblog has now spectacularly failed. (And knowing that this can happen will, sadly, make me more reluctant to employ that technique from now on.)

Fortunately, however, when one reblogs a post the images on the reblogged page are copied into the media library in the reblogging site, so I was able to locate the wonderful image that Karen had created (with the ‘free online word cloud generator and tag cloud creator’ WordClouds.com), about which so many commenters below had, er, commented on, and pop it back in here for your enjoyment:

A huge hat tip to Goldie,
(a member of the ?Random Raiders!)
who notified me of this problem,
allowing me to address it.
Thanks, Goldie!

  1. Well I compliment you on reposting this item. For I clicked on the wordcloud link in the summary email and struggled to work out what a wordcloud was. Then came here and bingo! All beautifully clear and what a lovely image shared!

  3. This will be extremely useful to me, I want to create some calligrams as illustrations, and to cap it all the whole shebang includes the word ‘cloud’! It was meant to be. Great link Mr Pedantry.

Hi Colin, Love these posts. Love Karen’s work. May use wordcloud myself for workshops. Love the clip from Cloud Atlas. I was also pleased to see after the clip two other clips came up. Eben Alexander who has written a couple of fascinating books about after life experiences. He offers an interesting analysis as a scientist. The other clip was of Esther Hicks who channels Abraham. I have attended workshops with Esther and Jerry( now passed) and read and studied much of what they have offered to the world. It certainly is worth a look if not already explored. We are all unique souls connected in the Human family. Indeed drops that make up an Ocean……together better.

Dang. Yes. This post was a reblog of a post at https://blueskydays365.wordpress.com/2018/03/15/poetry-word-cloud/ … but that post is now ‘404, not found’. But, thanks to you, I’ve been able to fix the problem (sort of) :)

      • I’m glad you were able to recreate it!

I was stunned when I found out that the library does not save every image you post on your blog :( I had an image from a 3rd party website that just disappeared and I cannot get it back. (I swear I had it on my computer somewhere but I can’t seem to find it, either. Eghrrr… those improvements…)

I’m not sure I understand. The WordPress media library reliably stores every image I upload to it; and it also uploads the images from posts I reblog (whether or not they’re actually needed in the reblogged post, so after I reblog I check the library to cull the unneeded images).

I’m completely in agreement with you about ‘improvements’. It often seems to be a case of ‘one step forward, two steps back’.

          • I had an image in my post … hosted somewhere else. Long story short – since I haven’t used their site for over 2 or 3 years, they deleted my ‘stuff,’ which deleted it off my post. Nothing in my media library. I’m not sure why I didn’t download. I’m assuming there was no way other than embed?

Umm… I’m sorry to say that all I can say here is “dunno”. If there were images on your site then they were either located in your media library or on their server. If the former, nothing ‘they’ could have done could delete the images from your library (as they would be separate copies). Sounds like it’s more likely the latter: you were ‘deep linking’ to their content, they removed that content, hence it disappeared from your site as the link(s) were no longer valid.
