      The only cure I can think of is education.

        What kind of education would you recommend? It seems a psychological issue combined with character issues (notice they always use kids, cuz they have a captive audience known as Psych 101, and kids are more susceptible to manipulation and peer pressure).

          What I meant was education about how conformity comes about — such as watching this video, and reading the article I linked to (incidentally, what did you think about that?).

          The ‘issues’ to which you refer aren’t the only ones: a big factor is the effect of social media, which can put people together in echo chambers where crazy ideas can flourish.

          Innoculate people to the problem by educating them that everyone is susceptible, and perhaps they’ll be less prone to fall into the trap?

    Well, the experimenters put people in echo chambers of liars. Basically trap them. Seems to me that some preparation would go a long way to make sure the person remembers their principles, and does not fall for groupthink/group lies. But then their results would be different.
