For Missy

Journey to the land where all dreams hold sway
Where anything at all is possible
And from this realm then pass entire away

Adorable and ever comical
Nine lives to live are simply not enough
Where anything at all is possible

Tumble and rough, two balls of fumble fluff
Hunting scampering mice under the stair
Nine lives to live are simply not enough

Chasing bright coloured birds into the air
And when that fails, as it too often will
Hunting scampering mice under the stair

Sleeping in sunshine on the windowsill
Seeking in bliss that fine eternal source
And when that fails, as it too often will

Whenever time has run its natural course
Journey to the land where all dreams hold sway
Seeking in bliss that fine eternal source
And from this realm then pass entire away

Missy and Minouche

Gone, but not forgotten

A terzanelle: five triplets and a quatrain. Not easy! And, worse than that; I found from following that link I just put in that I’d got it completely wrong. My first sorry attempt has been deleted as unfit for consumption in anything but a very bad poetry competition. I do hope you enjoy this, my second try, even though my efforts at iambic pentameter are entirely suspect.

Nice lighthearted music. The poem almost feels like a merge of two poems, one about you and one about the cats.

  2. Beautiful and rhythmic. But maybe because I don’t care for poetry rules.
Was it fun to try and write a terzanelle, though?

  3. I enjoyed your poem. Nice form but I didn’t try to count the feet. It must have been tough to write in iambic pentameter.

Very nice tribute to those nine lives. Try as I might, I have a real hard time with iambic pentameter. No offense to the kitty, but I think that the 3rd movement of Mahler’s 1st would also be appropriate (the funeral march for the hunter while the hinted secretly rejoice)

  5. Lovely photo. I’m guessing your heart is still broken from missing your beloved feline, and the loss will still sting for some time. Warm wishes as you continue without the comfort of your companion…
