A Hitchhiker’s Guide Trivia Quiz – Part 3 of 4

Towel Day is just a dozen days away! Do you know where your towel is?

Here’s the third ‘fit’ of the triva quiz I’ve made up for fans of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in the run-up to this year’s Towel Day. The quiz is derived from the Primary and Secondary phases of the original radio show.

It’s a trilogy in four parts. The links to these are below: but note that, unless you have access to a hyperspatial field generator, the last link may not be useful yet:

There are, naturally enough, 42 questions in all: Stay posted for the final dozen, which will be revealed at 10:10:10 UTC on Towel Day, 25 May 2020!

There’s a slightly different format here from what has gone before: Tom from Beyond the Sphere pointed out that his dumbphone has a ‘dark mode’ that revealed the answers prematurely, so from now on I’m listing the questions first and answers afterwards.

~~~~~
Q21: How much would it cost to buy a copy of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy from Megadodo Publications?
Q22: What is the precis of the reason why the other two chicks look exactly like Lintilla?
Q23: Who is the private brain-care specialist of both Zaphod Beeblebrox and Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz?
Q24: Who has a brain the size of a planet?
Q25: What creature first uttered the (translated) phrase ‘So long, and thanks for all the fish’?
Q26: From which star system did the advertising executives who came up with the Milliways slogan hail?
Q27: Who created the Total Perspective Vortex?
Q28: How does Hig Hurtenflurst, an executive of the Dolmansaxlil Shoe Corporation, spell ‘revoked’?
Q29: Ford Prefect sent a new entry describing the Earth to the Guide’s editors. According to him, they ‘trimmed it a bit’… what was the revised entry?
Q30: Who wrote the best-selling book ‘Well, That About Wraps It Up For God’?
Answers
Note: I’ve attempted to hide the answers by making their text colour white. Click and drag your mouse (assuming you can) over the ‘A:’ lines to reveal the answers. I’ve also put links on most of the answers to places where you can find out more — except for a few where I couldn’t find anything definitive; for those, you’ll have to listen closely to the radio show if you want proof!
Attention dumbphone users: as your phone’s not smart enough… um… unless, apparently, you have it on ‘Dark mode’… to allow you to reveal the answers, I’ll be posting them all at this address the day after Towel Day. That post will be password protected, and I’ll be giving you clues to the password… your third is: 101010.
A21: £3.95 for the book, plus £597,812,406.07 P&P
A22: “Because”
A23: Gag Halfrunt
A24: Marvin
A25: A dolphin
A26: Bastablon
A27: Trin Tragula
A28: k-i-l-l-e-d
A29: ‘Mostly Harmless’
A30: Oolon Colluphid
    Good stuff! You’ve been doing your research! I’m looking forward to the final dozen. (My embarrassing score, this time, I’ll keep to myself…)
    (Tiny grumble in that A29, to Q29, was AFTER the editors had a chance to mangle Ford’s submission… When one realises how much of the original Guide was left on the cutting-room floor to make that Hollywood version, one begins to comprehend the quality of the movie version. ‘Editors’ – top o’ the list for ‘B Ark’ passengers!)
    Cheers!
  2. 3 today, but let’s face it, 2 of them were giveaways!
    I was going to put Because for q22 but over-thought it.
    Good stuff Wibble, especially as we are currently being wiped out by a virulent disease picked up from a particularly dirty telephone, and I can’t get a haircut. Come back B ark all is forgiven.
    My score this time is -2.
    I only answered two questions and got them both wrong. Q21, Pendantry, according to my logical mind (which I should never listen to!), should have had a 42 in there somewhere but didn’t. And Q25, believe me or not, I knew the quote. I remembered the quote from the shows I watched millennia ago. I’m sure I remembered the quote. I just couldn’t remember whose quote it was but didn’t think it was a dolphin. Sigh. At least I tried…
    Oh, and you can highlight text on the phones just by pressing down slightly longer than normal on the word (or space!) so a couple of blobs appear. Drag the first blob backwards or the second blob forwards and the text is highlighted. Or use dark mode and it’s already done!
    Maybe I’ll get a question right next time!
