The future is bright
As long as we do what’s right
Don’t give up the fight
I’m dedicating this haiku to Earth Day 2020 (22 April), the 50th anniversary of Earth Day!
The theme for Earth Day 2020 is climate action. The enormous challenge — but also the vast opportunities — of action on climate change have distinguished the issue as the most pressing topic for the 50th anniversary.
Climate change represents the biggest challenge to the future of humanity and the life-support systems that make our world habitable.
This haiku was written for Weekly haiku challenge #299 hosted by Ronovan Writes.
I don’t know whether it’s good form for a haiku to rhyme. Here’s hoping I won’t be penalised for getting it wrong!
I just finished reading Necessity and so this is very fitting! I didn’t realize it was world earth day!

It’s not Earth Day today… that happens on 22 April (but I wrote the haiku today). What did you think of ‘Necessity’?

I’m so sorry I’m just replying to this. I really enjoyed it! That and The Wooden Groat are two of my favourites so far. I really like the idea of this pub and what comes out of the red fog!

Hey, there’s no time limit on replies here. (Take a look at my post ‘Asynchronicity‘). Thanks for your feedback… I’ll have to wrack my brains for more stories of Andy and Gerry :)

I think a rhyme in a haiku is like a cherry on the icing on the cake. The cake would be nice without it but it’s an unexpected bonus nonetheless
