A Blog Leap Tour

I made a new blogging friend the other day, Bryntin, via a rather cool method of his own devising that he calls a ‘Blog Leap Tour’, or BLT for short. Loosely based around the ‘six degrees of separation‘, the idea is that you start at one blog article, link to it, and then visit the site of the sixth ‘liker’ of that article. Repeat until you have six links. (There’s a few extra wrinkles, but that’s the gist of it.)

I checked with Bryntin, and he said he held no patents on the idea, and I was free to copy it if I felt mad enough (or words to that effect).

So without further ado, here’s the first of a series of possibly just one Wibble BLTs!

We start off in Cornwall — just a stone’s throw from here — and Bryntin’s latest BLT itself. I shan’t describe the sites to which he links as recursion often makes me feel more than a little bit queasy; you’ll have to follow the link yourself. And, as with all my off-site links, although of course I’d rather you returned here to continue the tour, I won’t hold it against you if you disappear forever: such is the nature of the Internet.

Counting to six takes us to Rachel Hill, who, according to her Gravatar is also in the UK (though I think she may currently be in India)….

Rachel’s current post is called ‘Look at the Bright Side‘ (a phrase that always makes me want to climb up onto a cross, swing my feet, and whistle). It’s a reblog from Sadagopan’s blog, and it focuses on the coronavirus outbreak, first comparing it to a lesser zombie apocalypse, but then going on to list no fewer than twenty ways to look at the experience in a positive light. “Staying in drinking tea and eating hot cross buns is the new going out,” says Rachel.

Counting to six takes us to SaaniaSparkle, whose Gravatar doesn’t list her blog (I should perhaps point her to my post ‘Using Gravatar to build traffic‘). But her name is pretty unique: Google helps me track her down, virtually at least (I have no clue where on Earth she is)….

Saania’s post is a poem entitled ‘The Enchanted Forest‘, a charming romp with squirrels, rabbits and dragonflies. I’m glad that I chanced upon a poem, since today is ‘World Poetry Day‘ — perhaps I should have tried to write this in rhyme: but maybe some other time.

Moving briskly along: number six this time is to ‘live_a_life_less_ordinary’ in California, and a blog called ‘Highway Pi’.

This blog has an intriguing theme: we’re on a highway, and the posts are ‘exits’ from it. The last post is a somewhat sad lament detailing how he’s been stiffed by a builder; that and other events appear to have curtailed his blogging urge. Maybe he’ll be back; it would be a shame if this were the last exit.

Now it seems we’re off to East Asia to visit with Caitlin.

Caitlin tells us that she’s settling down in Daegu, South Korea and looking forward to a trip to Thailand with her mum. She has written a book called ‘An Art Lover’s Guide to Glasgow’, in which she has combined her love for art with that for her native town.

Our last stop is to meet with Petrus van Zyl from South Africa, someone with ‘few words but so much to say’….
