Unknown universe

A timely follow-on from my recent wibble ‘Focus‘, gleaned from a comment on a recent article by Guy McPherson on Transition Voice (well worth a read — especially the comment thread.)

This video* represents ‘The Known Universe‘: and yet most members of our seven billion strong species are blissfully unaware of its true extent.

“Space,” it says, “is big. REALLY big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the street to the chemist, but that’s just peanuts to space. Listen…” and so on.  HHGTTG

* video created by the American Museum of Natural History. (Many thanks!)
