Tomorrow never comes

If you’re like me, you don’t like being told what to do.

What few people seem to realise is that our entire economic system was deliberately designed to encourage us all to consume like there’s no tomorrow. We are all constantly told what to do… and that is to buy, buy, buy.

It’s easy to think that tomorrow never comes, but it’s almost midnight. We must find an alternative to ‘retail therapy.’

Though couched in humour, Douglas Adams was right about the shoe event horizon; and we’re fast approaching it.

Can I press the button now?

[edit 15 November 2009] The Story of Stuff home page doesn’t currently load the video (at least, not on my system). But I eventually noticed a link to an international version – and that (at least currently) does load. For me. Your mileage may vary.[/edit]
