Decisive moves

Leaders are supposed to lead.
Watching Formula1, and thinking
We need to move away from burning fossil fuels.
The government can’t do it all.
But there’s one thing it can do, without dithering:
It can choose to send the right message.
It could ban the infernal combustion engine from Formula1 in the UK.
Think about it…
It would:
  • infuriate some;
  • kick-start the kind of research we must have;
  • encourage other nations to follow;
  • be a decisive move;
  • be brave.

  1. Leadership is definitely an interesting topic. I keep reading about the best leaders being those who have people follow them without making them follow them. (That’s not the best-constructed sentence ever, but I hope you understand the meaning behind it.) And, I kind of agree.

    Why ‘kind of?’ Well, it really requires skill to make people WANT to do something. Making someone do something might be easier (especially if you have the authority). I feel that people should be able to do what they want and not MADE to do or not do something. However, I also feel sad about the state of humanity and realize that with certain issues and certain people it’s a lost cause.

    Admittedly, I don’t want to give up my rights, but I feel like the rights of others could do with some infringing. Would I ever actually act on it? I don’t know…
