The Tube Open Movie — an animation project by Bassam Kurdali (see the press release).
I can’t embed the four-minute video trailer here (blasted computers!) but you can watch it on Kickstarter.
Animation with substance. The crowd funds it, the crowd owns it. Tube is the experimental production of a 3D animated short about the dream and failure and achievement of immortality. It’s also a love letter to free software and open culture that marks their convergence with independent filmmaking.
Your support will enable Urchn to finish a movie in which a passionate volunteer team has invested years of hard labor.
It says here that “if you promote Tube and send us the names of donors you referred whose contributions reach 2K or more, you also earn an Executive Producer credit”. Since I quite fancy the idea of being an executive movie producer, if you should happen to contribute to this project, I would be very grateful if you could drop me a line to say you’ve done so

Just in case anyone should happen to wander by here: the project currently has 865 backers, with $34,448 pledged (of $22,000 goal) with just 3 days to go as of now.
So on the one hand, it’s good news; on the other hand, Those In Charge of the Tube project say they actually still need a further $16K for ‘full funding’ (whatever that is), so:
Update: just an hour to go:
1,025 backers
$40,127 …
Is it possible that another $10k could be pledged in the next 60 minutes? … stranger things have happened
Final score: 1,031 backers pledged $40,233
